I thought the articles were helpful. Anything that one learns something new from is helpful really. From the articles I have learned that PSAs are not really like commercials, in fact it is best to use audio only when it is needed to enhance the PSA. I have learned that it is important we only ask the audience to do one, so as not to overwhelm them probably.

PSA Ideas

At this point I am still debating what to do however I do like the idea of using just texts with audio in the background, like "The Girl Effect" video. Especially since my capstone is an academic topic it allows me to include all the facts I hope to get across. All I need to do is organize what it is I am going to include.

Preliminary Identification of Capstone Presentation

My capstone will include props in addition to the mediums we will already need. I would prefer making a model of the eye, but that would be too complicated, so I have opted to by a model of the eye. I will present poster material on an easel. I plan to make a 3d model of the the artificial cornea using a program called autoCad. I also plan to wear dressy clothes such as long black pants heels a fancy blouse. Some important points I plan to address how corneal transplants can completely cure a person who is blind due to corneal damage, and using artificial corneas allows for more people to receive this life changing procedure which would intern radically reduce the number of people disabled due to corneal blindness. Yes I will use brochures or flyers of some sort, I will also be using pens. Aside from my PSA I am not sure I will do any other kind of animation, but I do plan to make a website in addition to this blog.

Look and Feel of My Presentation

A. My presentation will be serious, maybe with a little bit of humor so as no to bore the audience.
B. I want my images to relate to my idea without the disturbing the audience because some of the images relating to my topic can be and I don't want to disgust my audience. I hope to use soft tones like blue and green those relating to the colors most common in irises.
C. Through the mediums i will use, i plan to make them persuasive by using factual evidence, charts, and quotes from scholarly journals.
D. I plan to make point of view understood by explaining it myself during our presentations, in addition to offering my audience other places to visit to gather more info. I also plan to create other things such as website that they may use so they can get more answers to some of their questions.
E. I intend to create a model of an artificial cornea using autoCad.

PSA Ideas

I plan to take a serious approach, informing people about the importance of artificial corneas, and the benefit they have on blindness caused by corneal damage. I plan to have diagram and facts implemented into the PSA. I also plan to include testimonials of patients and doctors.

Statement of Intent

    The main goal of this project is to improve the quality of sight in patients with vision impairment due to corneal damage. By using artificial corneas instead of donated corneas, more transplants would be performed thus making the procedure available to a larger amount of patients.
    Artificial corneas benefit the economy of America because they would reduce the amount of people handicapped due to sight impairment caused by corneal damage. Thus increasing the labor force, and bringing more revenue into the economy.
    I plan to major in Biomedical Engineering and the purpose of this field is to blend biological sciences, engineering, and medicine in order to improve the overall quality of human health and life.
    Essentially artificial corneas will provide people with the ability of sight and increase the revenue of the American economy.
    Blindness due to corneal damage is treatable and can be rid through surgery, and using artificial corneas allows for more life changes surgeries to be performed.
